 Work -independent-pros-and-cons

Contingent Employment people, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, independent professionals, merchants and other self-employed workers share the reliance on themselves to generate income. If you are in this group or are looking to be one, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of this work model.

Advantages of work independently

The majority of those who turn to work on their own (in front of a job in a dependent relationship) do so in search of independence on all fronts: making decisions, having flexibility of schedules and dedication, choosing the way of doing things, Manage the money.

If the business or activity works well, it is possible to receive payments substantially greater than those of a job in a dependency relationship.

A contract protects your interests in different ways, assures you that you will receive adequate compensation, on time and if there are changes in the requirements once the project is started, modifications must be made, where the new estimates will be specified.

Below, we will give some tips that you should keep in mind when preparing the contracts that will set your services and the type of relationship you will establish with customers.

 Maintain a written contract

For more confidence that you have the person who will act as a client, we must always maintain a written Contingent Employment contract, as this will be the only thing that officially supports all that was agreed.

If we simply reach verbal agreements, in case there is a legal problem, those agreements will not help us. Even the use of emails can not be considered a legal backup.

You should always have a written contract, which summarizes in your paragraphs, the work that you as a designer are going to do, the conditions on which the business is established between you and the client, and some other legal details that could Serve in case of any conflict.

We know that this may sound boring at first, but it will end up saving you a lot of problems.

A written contract with signatures of agreement provided by both parties, is the best legal document that can be counted.

Although today, media and communications have facilitated the creation of contracts with customers over long distances, for some institutions in certain countries contracts made with electronic signatures do not represent the same legal level as a physical contract, written and signed in person.

If you do not know how to start making a contract, you can look for examples on the Internet or even download a template that allows you to get an idea of the basics of your contract.

If necessary, you can go to a society or association that provides legal services and advice in this field, and if you have extra money, you can consult a lawyer exclusively for this.

Do not give up the rights to your work before time

One of the most common errors that arise when making contracts, is not to establish a text that indicates that everything prepared by the designer or developer will be assigned to the client once the first one has received his payment in a complete manner.

To ensure that our contract covers this issue and prevents difficult situations of rights, we must include a phrase that specifies that only after the services are completed and once the payment has been received in full, will the rights of the application or design to the client who requested it.

These intellectual property rights include the use of the product, the ability to make modifications and reproduce it, the delivery of the designs and sketches made, the system or software developed, among other things.

Make a good statement of work

When we work a pre-made contract or with a template, it is not recommended to modify to a large extent the clauses that are already defined, however there is a section of special importance, which must be modified totally if necessary, all with In order to adapt to what we really want to obtain, this section is called "Work Statement".

The work statement is a part of the contract where the agreement between the client and the service provider is defined bluntly.

In it you can define the scope of the project to be carried out, that is, where the product will cover once finished, this is where we can specify if any kind of consulting service will be provided after delivery, and the parameters to determine if the The execution of the project was successful or not.

We must establish certain key points to solidify this statement, in it we must explain the context of the project, the objectives, the tentative dates of delivery, the total term and the estimated cost. In this way the client will not have the opportunity to expand the scope of the project. By not establishing a good work statement, the client can consider the quote request as something official.

 Make your contract look professional

Always seek to use a presentable contract, with good writing and format, which denotes your professionalism, relaxed if necessary but at the same time to understand that formality is necessary when dealing with legal issues.

While your contract has all the essential elements, you are free to make improvements or redesign it in the way you want.

At the end of the day, a contract you make will also represent your brand, so you can take an additional time to find the design that best suits what you are looking for. If we manage a contract that looks good and at the same time is professional, we will contribute to increase the trust in the client and this will increase the chances that he will choose us to work on his project.

To achieve a good presentation, you can follow a series of recommendations, avoid using underlined texts, do not make too much use of italicized text, omit words completely in capitals, do not use sources of different colors or types, use wide margins, and in If it is a very broad contract, use numbers on the pages.

 Freelance contract model

There are many references on the internet to download contract models for freelance jobs.

Obviously, they are all guidelines, and the best option is to have a legal advisor in your country that can elaborate your contracts based on the laws that govern where you live.

However, as a guide, we share some free models of contracts circulating on the Internet.

You have a few freelance contract examples available to download, such as modelcontract.net, or info autonomos.

conclusion

Making a contract as a freelance can be a very intimidating topic, however it is very necessary to guarantee a healthy working relationship.

Hopefully with this series of tips that we have given you, it is easier for you to draw up a contract and as such you can improve your way of working and contacting clients.

How can I know if my   router is dual band  ? This is not so simple anymore. On the one hand you could enter the   configuration of the router  , but that is something more complicated. Or you could look for that information in the   box   or in the device itself. Although a simple alternative to find out would be to   download an app to analyze it  . Doing a search by Internet we will find easily some type of app that analyzes the spectrum of frequencies that we can capture with our computer, and taking a look at it we can find this information.

Enterprise routers are basic product for any business/enterprise. And the   routers of the companies   have double band? Most routers of Internet companies (ISP) offer a few routers  not very powerful  , especially if it is   ADSL   and not fiber optics. Therefore, it is most likely that the router of your operator does not have, as is my case. But do not be alarmed, here comes one who does!

Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router 3, a router with dual band

As we just told you, we present you with a dual band  router  .

This is the   Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router 3  , whose long name is a router capable of broadcasting at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. For this it has four antennas, two for each frequency.

And how can we get this router? This router has to be bought in China, and it costs   € 30. We got it through the GearBest page  , and we did not have any problems. And although it is not the only one with its characteristics, it is one of the best value for money.

conclusion

As you can see, this is one more technology in our repertoire, which will be more and more present. Without a doubt, something that any technology enthusiast should know.

We are going to talk about the adjustments that can be made in a router  taking as reference a wireless router, otherwise there would be no reason to write this post. A wireless router has a variety of options that can be configured. Some are almost hidden inside the router interface but it is good that you know them  since they will help you, for example, to improve the Internet connection as well as the security of your network and many other things that we will see later.
Keep in mind that the configuration options  vary depending on the model of each router, I mean that your router may not have all the options listed in this article. These options, too, will be in different menus with different names. Enterprise routers are basic product for any business/enterprise.

Access to the Router Interface

Before starting, it is necessary to know how to access the router. In a previous blog post we have covered this topic in depth. You can have a look at that article: Basic guide to access and configure a router .

Anyway I will briefly remember that the entry to the router is done via web browser with the IP address or gateway thereof. Remembering again ... the fastest way to get the IP address is by looking at the details of the connection status  of our network.

When you have it, enter it via the web to the address bar and access the router with your username and password. Once you have logged in, you can navigate through the pages or configuration menus to view and modify some settings  , such as the ones mentioned below.

1. See who is connected

Your router probably provides a way to see who is connected to your wireless network  . This can be in a "Connection Status" page or in the "Wireless" section, it appears as "Client List", "connected equipment" or similar.

If your devices and computers have specific names (PC-01, PC-of-Table, Computer-of-Paqui, etc.), this will help you to check and identify that only the devices that belong to you are connected to the home network.

2. Change Wifi Channel

It is possible to modify a wide variety of wireless network options in the router's web interface  , such as the wireless channel. The change of wifi channels in the router is a topic that we talked about earlier in the blog and how they can speed up our Internet connection.

This option is often found in "Wireless Settings" or "Wifi Setup"; if the router interface is in Spanish: Wifi settings  or similar.

There is a lot of talk that if there are many other wireless networks around your house they may be using the same Wi-Fi channel as yours and that this causes interference  and therefore a slower connection  .

Before modifying the channel you can see which are less saturated with the following programs: For Windows & Mac OS: inSSIDer  created by MetaGeek and for Android: Wi-Fi Analyzer  . Although inSSIDer is also available for Android: it is a paid app. Anyway, if you are interested in obtaining an optimal connection  , undoubtedly give a read to the articles cited above since this is not the only factor to consider.

3. Quality of Service (QoS)

Many routers have the QoS  (quality of service) feature or quality of service. QoS prioritizes traffic within the network to give a better experience. For example, QoS can reduce the network bandwidth available for BitTorrent downloads and give priority to web pages.

This is very common, has not it happened to you that you are downloading a program and web browsing is very slow ?.

This is especially useful if you have a network with several people  and you want to avoid someone slowing down the entire network. The quality of service feature is quite configurable in many routers, but it is best to activate it in its automatic mode by default.

4. Open Ports, DMZ, uPnP

If you want to configure a computer as a server  or use other services that require incoming connections: for example: a VPN network , VoIP, a game server, etc. it is possible that the router rejects these connections.

Therefore, opening ports will make the router allow these connections for one or several computers that we want. You can also use the demilitarized zone ( DMZ  ) to automatically send all incoming network connections to a single computer.

If you play in a network  : you can enable certain number of ports to improve the performance or stability of the game. For example, for PS3 these port numbers are usually used 80, 443.

Very important  : If you are configuring the opening or forwarding of ports or the DMZ, you may also want to assign a static IP address  for your computer or videogame console.

5. Parental control, site blocking and Access Programming

Some routers often contain the parental control feature, which allows you to block certain sites  or web pages. You can also control at what specific time users can use the Internet, for example you can restrict Internet access  to your child from 9 pm on weekdays.

6. Reset the router

You may want to restore the router to factory settings  if you are experiencing network problems. With restore or reset I do not mean to turn off and on again the router, this is totally different. It consists in restoring all configuration values to an initial state and leaving the router as new. EYE:  Only do it if the router and the whole connection has problems constantly. You can also do this by physically pressing a small hole behind it. This option is usually found under "Administration" as "Reset or reboot router".

7. Block equipment that may be stealing your wifi signal

If you are a person who cares about the privacy of Internet access and you think that they are stealing your Wi-Fi  and can connect to your network or you think that you have 'caught' the Wi-Fi password. You can decide which devices can be connected to your Wi-Fi router thanks to MAC Filtering  . Each computer or mobile device has one, a MAC address is like the DNI of each device, it is unique and unrepeatable.

The mac filter allows two options to "deny" or "allow" computers. The first one will be useful if you have detected a computer name that is not in your network, you can obtain its MAC address (see point 1) and enter it in this configuration with the deny option. So even if that person has your Wi-Fi key, he can not connect to your network.

Undoubtedly, there are other security measures for not reaching these extremes of doing a MAC filter; the ideal would be to establish a secure password for your wifi network (special characters, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, etc).

Formerly, the Internet connection was made through modems that through a telephone call established a connection to the Internet, but for some years now, all the companies have started to establish the ADSL or cable lines in a standard way and with them the routers as a connection device.

The benefits of having a router are many, among which we would highlight, the ability to host more number of computers, tablets or phones connected simultaneously among other things and precisely, one of the most interesting features of the routers, is the one that we are going to explain below: The benefits of customizing the configuration.

The routers, come from the factory configured to be plugged in and without having to do anything work perfectly, but this is a bit limited if we are curious with our Internet connection and we want to implement certain aspects such as: Mount a web server or ftp, access our computer from outside the home safely, play online games, change the wifi password, download Torrent or Emule ... and endless configurations that we can touch once inside the router. Enterprise router is a basic product for any business/enterprise.

Normally, to access the router, it is only necessary to type the ip of our gateway or router normally an ip finished in 1 xxx1 and then the access password, which should come in the instruction book or in the router documentation , once inside we can access the following configurations, as long as the router allows it:

Wifi settings  : Change the name, password, devices that can be connected and those that can not.
DHCP server  : To give or not the ip automatically or require that it be configured manually.
Open or close ports  : This is what gives more play within our router because with this we can layer programs or access without the need for a firewall or third-party software or allow access to programs such as the Emule.
Configure ips  : We can also change the ips ranges for more security, activate or deactivate dhcp, etc.

These and many more are the benefits of customizing the configuration of your router because today, the Internet provider companies automate these configurations and are exposed to leaks of the algorithm, which will allow a ready outside our network to access our data or simply to use our Internet connection. If you really want to optimize your connection and have a unique configuration, we invite you to change the factory configuration of your router, and if you need help, we help you customize your router.

For most of us, working independently is like a dream come true. Having the opportunity to be our own boss, working the hours we want, and being responsible for our own success ... sounds great - and it is - but being independent full time is not for everyone. While some independent professionals manage to thrive, others discover that they are not as good at working alone as they have become accustomed to working for a company on a fixed schedule.

You're not the only one who has ever thought about leaving his full-time job to work on his own. In fact, right now many people are working independently and according to some studies, it is estimated that 60% of them decided to change by choice and not by necessity. However, many people prefer to work full time in a traditional office environment. Maybe it's because of teamwork and the exchange of ideas with your office colleagues or even because of the possibility of sharing a joke with the partner in the cubicle next door. Maybe, they just do not feel inclined to become independent because they are very used to that routine.

As in everything, there are those who do not have an adequate profile to become independent professionals. So before taking the step, you must take into account the following aspects of a freelance's life, to find out if working in this way can work for you:

You will work alone

Working as a freelancer can be a solitary profession. Although previously you worked in the middle of the hustle and bustle of an office environment, now you will do it from your home, with your laptop, Mac or PC. In other words, you will be isolated to a certain extent and unless you interview with a client, you meet with your colleagues or project partners, there will be times when you could spend a whole day without using your voice. Such isolation can affect your mood and your work. If you are very used to interacting with other people while you work, consider sharing an office with someone or renting a coworking space.

You will need Self-discipline

When starting to work independently, it is very tempting to give everything and work until late at night. But those hours of night work will only cause you to feel very tired and that getting up in the morning is very difficult. Then think that if you are working for yourself, you should set your own schedule and sleep as necessary to be always alert. Remember that to be aware of your customers, you must adapt to their schedules and respond promptly, when they ask for updates and set delivery times. It is imperative that you be available when you ask for support.

Establish a schedule, objectives and expectations

Whether you are working on a last minute project or have all the time in the world, it is important for Contingent Employment or independent workers to set deadlines and manage expectations with customers. Determine how the final product will look, when the final delivery will be and how it will be carried out, helps freelancers to meet their deadlines in time and form, thus allowing customers to know what they are going to obtain.

You have to deal with customers

Unless you have gained experience in customer service in the company where you worked, your first obstacle will be to learn to communicate with them. Customer service means being courteous, direct and that your communication is effective in reaching agreements. There is no place for exasperation or sarcasm, much less when you face a truly difficult client. Think of it this way: the client is now your boss and you have to treat him as such. A large number of clients like to interact with independent professionals, so you must deliver the work in a timely manner to impress them and maintain a constant working relationship for a long time.

Know how to sell yourself

Maybe because of your knowledge you are a great web designer, have a gift to tell stories or excellent skills as a programmer, but if you do not have a personal marketing strategy, nobody will know that you are open to new job opportunities. Every good freelance must have a strong online presence, from social media accounts (with a professional profile, please) to a personal website and a digital portfolio. Having a well-defined personal brand will help you promote your image as a professional among your current or potential clients.

Learn to negotiate

Being a freelancer, income depends directly on your rates and there are no special bonuses like when you worked in an office. To be successful, you have to be able to negotiate reasonable work rates. There is nothing wrong with starting with low rates, as long as you raise them steadily as you gain experience and reputation. At all times you must be improving your skills to deserve a better payment.

Keep track of all the great ideas

At some point, you will be working on a good number of projects with different phases of execution. Keeping track of all the ideas and inspirations associated with each of them, are skills that demonstrate a great organization and first level for an independent professional.

Communicate effectively

It seems obvious, but effective communication builds a foundation for business success. This is even more pressing for independent workers. Going beyond to be aware of the communication, can help eliminate the physical distance between the freelance and his client. Being available through email, by phone or in a video chat is a necessity, but it can be complemented with other forms, such as sharing the screen of different applications, to show your clients a more complex and detailed work vision.

Follow up, build a network and grow an independent business

Finishing a project and sending an invoice to your client could be interpreted as the end of the employment relationship, but it is not. You can follow up with the client for one or two weeks, after the project has been delivered and ask for your opinion. If it's positive, ask for a recommendation to show it to potential customers on your social networks, such as LinkedIn. You could also ask them to give you a brief testimony of their experience working with you, to publish it on your website or portfolio.

By sravani mekala 04 Jan, 2018

Thanks in particular to the professions of the web, the number of independent workers continues to grow in France.

The coming generations are looking for a different way of working life than we have seen in previous generations. More and more people do not hesitate to question themselves for an entrepreneurial experience often associated with some form of freedom .

If the freelance work is democratized, it has many advantages:

1: Getting to know each other better

It is above all a great human experience that will make you go through all your states. Of course, it will not be easy every day. There will be difficulties and pitfalls in which one will not have to fall. But which entrepreneur has never known failure? Who never fell to get better?

So actually, the ideal is to be the best informed. Do not hesitate to ask questions of those around you, to get information , to participate in conferences and especially to listen to the testimonies of people who have taken the step towards this great adventure.

This of course will not avoid you all the problems but will allow you to be better prepared. It is precisely this experience and experience that are rewarding so stay optimistic !

2: A better life balance

The whole life is made of periods and cycles. He has a time for the family, a time for friends and there is also a time to work. The flexibility of your schedule allows you to be more available to those around you.

Who would not want to have time to go to the cinema with his mother? Or teach his kids swimming one Wednesday afternoon? It is important for personal fulfillment to enjoy the small pleasures of everyday life.

3: Work more efficiently

What is certain is that an employee will never be as productive as a freelancer. Why ? Because the freelancer sails alone his own boat and if he does not want it to sink, he must fight and face his responsibilities .

The reappraisal perpetual allows to form, expand their skills and helps to find new ways to work more efficiently . Every element of your daily life can be optimized.

The motivation and discipline are the keys to you lead to success !

4: Acquire new skills

Of course it is possible to use providers. But this quickly represents a budget that we do not necessarily have when we start our business.

Depending on your needs, you will be able to do things that may be out of your business and that's the richness of this adventure .

If you need a website or a business card, why not do it yourself? Nowadays, there are a thousand ways to learn , whether through tutorials or training. The Internet is full of people who help each other.

At the same time, any skills that you will acquire in addition to those you already know will be so many things to put forward in the eyes of your future customers .

5: Being your own boss

Honestly, who has never dreamed of being his own boss? To have responsibilities and decide what is best for the company without having to justify anything. Your decisions influence your future , that of your project. To be freelance is to show autonomy , rigor , ingenuity , qualities highly appreciated by the collaborators who will be brought to work with you.

6: Better income

When one is independent, everything is a question of organization. You manage your   Contingent Employment work according to your needs. The more you work, the more contracts you get, the more your efforts pay off . If we know how to be cautious and organized , all hopes are allowed.

Your autonomy is both an advantage and a disadvantage : It is up to you to manage all the financial aspects: insurance, taxes, etc.

Hence the importance of knowing the tax rules or benefiting from advice from other independents.

On the other hand, working on these types of tasks helps to develop your personal financial culture .

7: Meet people

It's undeniable, the freelance makes you make knowledge. You will seek out professionals, individuals, associations, etc. The sociability is an important part of this type of job, working for others and with others.

Through meetings, conferences, trainings, you will be brought to meet people who have the same fears and the same expectations as you. We must take advantage and enrich these exchanges .

Good or bad experience, everything is good to take. By force of practice, you will weave links with your collaborators and who is able to say how far these can bring you?

8: Anywhere, anytime

This is one of the biggest benefits of being a freelancer. To be able to work where you want, when you want. In a train wagon in the middle of the night or on the sunny terrace of a café, enjoy different contexts and methods to flourish in your work .

A counter current of the news in which more and more employees complain about the incompatibility between personal and professional life.

9: Varying your activities

To launch oneself is also to enter a world of possibilities , novelties. Collaborations can arise from a multitude of sectors of activity, you will know neither the routine nor the monotony of the classic employee. Day after day, you will enrich yourself with these experiences .

Whether in terms of your skills or the management of a company, some contracts will offer you unusual opportunities. For people a little jack-of-all, this style of life offers you beautiful surprises and keeps you away from the routine.

10: Meeting challenges

Are you curious and ambitious ? You are not afraid to face uncomfortable situations ? You are right because it is in the difficulty that one learns to work his coolness and his stress management .

As noted by Webopedia, routers are located at the gateway level. They are responsible for keeping data flowing between networks and for maintaining networks connected to the Internet. Whether you are on the market for a new router, are currently relying on a router for an internet connection or are just curious about computer networking technologies, learning about different types of routers can be helpful.

 wired router

Wired routers are usually box-shaped devices that connect directly to computers via "hard-lined" or wired connections. A connection port on a wired router allows the router to connect to a modem to receive Internet data packets, while another set of ports allows a wired router to connect to computers for distribution of packets. Internet data. Some wired routers also provide ports for distributing data packets to fax machines and telephones. One of the most common varieties of wired router is the Broadband Ethernet Router. Enterprise routers are basic product for any business/enterprise.These routers support the Address Translation Network (NAT) technology, which allows multiple computers that are connected to a wired router to share a single Internet Protocol (IP address). For added security, wired routers typically use stateful packet inspection (SPI) firewalls, while providing communication between computers within a network; routers use the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

 Wireless router

Similar to a wired router, a wireless router connects directly to a modem via a cable for receiving data packets over the Internet. However, instead of relying on data packet distribution cables to computers, wireless routers distribute data packets using one or more antennas. Routers convert data packets, which are written in binary code - or series of 1's and 0's - into radio signals, which broadcast wireless antennas. A computer with a wireless receiver can then receive these radio signals and reconvert them to binary code. Unlike a wired router, which establishes a wired local area network (LAN), a wireless router establishes a wireless local area network (WLAN). The most common standard for WLAN is known as a Wi-Fi connection.

 Basic Routers vs. Edge Routers

A basic router is a wired or wireless router that distributes Internet data packets within a network, but does not distribute packets of data between multiple networks. In contrast, a Peripheral Router is a wired or wireless router that distributes Internet data packets between one or more networks, but does not distribute data packets in a network.

 Virtual Router

Unlike a wired or wireless physical router, a virtual router is an abstract intangible object that acts as a default router for computers sharing a network. The router functions using the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), which becomes active when a primary, physical router fails or otherwise becomes invalid.

The  new operator Entel now enters the competition for the mobile Internet market with Olo in the crosshairs. It is the 4G LTE wireless router. Enterprise routers are basic product for any business/enterprise.

 DESIGN

The equipment is a   Huawei E5377 wireless router  . It is very light (82 grams) and so small that it fits in the palm of the hand (93.5 mm x 57.1 mm x 14.4 mm).

 PERFORMANCE

Undoubtedly, it is a very useful device for those who are in constant movement and need to provide connectivity to their devices. An app can be downloaded to manage the configurations, permissions and other functions of the router from the mobile.

It allows up to 11 simultaneous connections. I used up to four without any inconvenience.

As for the 4G LTE signal, this is very robust. The download speed in 4G is, on average, 20 Mbps and in 3G of 2,048 kbps.  However, a couple of times being in front of the sea on a beach near Lima (Punta Hermosa) was the signal. The issue was solved by restarting the router and up, on the boardwalk. I do not identify why the problem was, but it caught my attention.
